Life Skills Series Season 2, Cycle 1 Preview

The new Life Skills Series preview – see full version at Berlin's Next Top Artist performance party on 22 May in Berlin.

Life Skills™ Manifesto

Life Skills™ manifesto is created to make people abide in order to create a certified Life Skill™.

1) No cutting or editing the video, just pure real life on any recording device
2) Life Skill™ should start with the person who is demonstrating the Life Skill™ saying "I will show you now how to ... "
3) The depiction of a person in a Life Skill™ should evaporate and radiate love for human beings.
4) The Life Skill™ demonstration should be as detailed as possible (e.g. to eat a cake I have to open my mouth and apply pressure with my teeth to the food I'm biting).
5) The real Life Skill™ should be approved by Dee Mee Tree Inc. and first appear publicly online on this blog. If you don't abide by these rules we will find and destroy you.

What is the Life Skills™ Series?

Life Skills™ is something for all and for everybody. It's the basic skills of life shown and taught by people just like you for people just like us (and vice versa). Taking a deconstructionist approach to video making, we try to... (no, it's not true) Actually, Life Skills™ are there to teach the aliens (who will also be the future humans by a happy coincidence) some simple things. Like, how to eat an ice-cream, or how to do your shoelaces. Think about it as life-hacks revisited. We have a much higher goal. We're looking into the future and we're doing things for the future.

Life Skills™ Series Season 1 was done by The Solvents Collective, and you can see some retro stuff at www.thesolvents.net available online for the first time.

Anybody can do a Life Skill™. It's very very simple. Just read through our manifesto, make your own life-skill, upload it on Vimeo.Com or YouTube.Com and send a link to us (via e-mail, a comment, or MySpace).

Season 2 of Life Skills™ is presented at Berlin's Next Top Artist Party on 22nd May 2008 and will soon be put online. See full details on the Epic Performance Party blog.
